So this morning I went to Rue's to say hi and see what fun thing she was up to today. There is ALWAYS something good happening at her blog. Anyway, while I was catching up on her posts she invited me to go enter a giveaway contest at BJ's Sweet Nothings. And what a surprise...61 people were ahead of me. But I put in my desire to win and I'm wishing for a great outcome. But it got me to thinking about the birds in my life. Most of my childhood I had a parakeet, then I had several different types of birds in my young adult life and then again when my son was 5 we had a parakeet again. Every chance my son and I had to play we would go to pet stores...we loved seeing the birds and other pets. I even had a job once next door to a small pet shop and became friends with some GREAT birds. Then Bela the cat came into my life (white fluffy) when we rescued him. Bela loved my son's parakeet "Santa". They were good friends but I had time because I was a stay at home mom to train and test their "relationship". But now I have 2 tabbies that were rescued after they lived in the forest for 4-5 months and I would be afraid to even think of leaving them alone in the house with a bird - or even turning my back on them for a second. Bela was not a problem because I rescued him from the dumpster of a great Italian restaurant (Bella's in Tampa)and he was more into pizza and pasta. LOL...So this is hard for me - because I really need a bird in my life....I don't know what to do. I'm sure Bax and Charlie will be around for at least another 10 years and that is too long to wait. So in the meantime I have to be contented to going to pet stores for my birdie fix.
Soon I will tell you about my other desire to have a dog.
Hope all of you have a glorious day and may the "best woman" win the bird hooks. (ME) teehee...xoxox Susan

Look at those handsome boys, Susan!! They are so cute....so that is Bela...I know you still miss him! I could never have a bird either, because my precious, normally sedate (and quite chubby) Nora, will run like the wind when she sees a bird outside, and she batted one down. I was mortified...honestly, if you saw this cat, you would think she couldn't move at the speed of turtle, much less light....so when I let her out on the patio now...well, she's on a little leash....to keep the bird population alive! What kind of pooch do you want? I love Corgis...that would be my dream dawg....
Hi Susan! (hi to Rosie too!!)
I think you should get one of those bird cages that hang from the ceiling away from anywhere they could climb up :)
I'm so glad you posted again :)
Just so you know, I am A O K ;)
Love you,
rue
Susan, My great grandma always had a bird and a cat. My sister has a bird and a cat. If you want a bird maybe you should try it. I love birds. My favorite was my Yellow Naped Amazon. If you said, "here kitty kitty." He would say"meow". Birds say the darnest things.
Hugs, Terrie
hey sis.love the post and loved the fur babies!!! We always had little parakeets when the kids were little..my sis had one for years and she always watched the Andy Griffith show every night and the bird learned to whistle the theme song! lol lol Oh it was so funny you be sitting talking and all at once he would start his little stage show!! lol Girl I have a cat now that will walk the fence and stick her paw in the bluebird houses just to check!!! Maybe you should get a dog and the dog will keep an eye on the cats! lol Have a great evening girl!!!
kchHe he he Rue, you reminded me of when we first got Bela from the dumpster and brought him home we hung Santa's cage from a plat hook that was in the corner of my bedroom. On Bela's first night in our home I was sleeping and Bela was on the end of my bed just watching the cage. All of a sudden he lept (is that a word) from the bed and landed on the cage with his four legs wrapped around it and then he slid down like a cartoon. I saw all of this in dim light and was cracking up so much. funny
Hi Susan!
I never had a bird but always had cats, I can just see your cat sliding down the birdcage, so funny!!! Your white cat is gorgeous! We had a pure white one when I was little, her name was snowball and someone in the neighborhood poisoned her!! Horrible!!! Sorry that was not good to share! Anyway have a great day and I'll be talking to you! oh and Susan I want to thank you again for your prayers for Robbin, please remember her on surgery day May 12th, thanks friend!! love ya!! RMS Sue
Hi Sue, Poor Snowball..hopefully the murderer got what was coming to them. I've got a story too. Our first bird flew in the fan and cut his head off when I was about 7 years old. I've had a lot of sad animal stories...but lots and lots of happy ones. They always outway the bad. Just like life!!! xoxox
